Bamboo Nusantara Festival Needs Support
Bamboo Nusantara Music Festival needs support because it is place for musicians bringing traditional themes to play an action.
An artist who is also a guitarist Balawan in his performance in ‘World Music Festval’ Bambu Nusantara the fifth in Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga), Bandung, Sunday, stated that most of people consider gamelan as primitive and retarded.
At the chance, Balawan perform a collaboration with Gamelan Maestro Project from Bali memainkan for five songs.
The famouse Guitaris who is well known good in collaboration between modern and ethnical music, make his show in main stage of Bambu Nusantara from 18.30 hingga 19.30 WIT.
According to Balawan, most of people consider gamelan as primitive and tends retarded.
“We lift gamelan as use it well,” he said.
His performance with Gamelan Maestro Projet is a personals introduction individually to people because the gamelan players come from their studio.
“It is planned that after this performance, we would make albums record with Gamelan Maestro Project. Here we could proove that traditional music players could go on same position with modern music players,” he said.
Five songs played are Funkbe, Belajar Menari (Learning to Dance), What Left in Bali, Kotekan, and Jayaprana that is lifted from traditional people story.
From audiencers many foreign tourists who come to watch Balawan performance. Hedrik for example, the Netherlands, said that he admired Balawan performance.
“I enjoyed the music. Collaboration between ethnical and modern music. I know Balawan, he is wonderful guitaris,” he said.
In addition to Balawan, in two days Bambu Nusantara festival, the famous Dwiki Dharmawan also collaborated with Ozeng Percussion from STSI Bandung.
Before peak performance, there is a performance from Bandung independent musician Sarasvati.
“Usually we played full electro but in this festival we collaborate with partners from angklung SMA (Senior High School) Pasundan 2 Bandung,” said Risa, the vocalist.
Bambu Nusantara the fifth helf for two days from Saturday (1/10) till Sunday (2/10) this is annually program take bamboo as its theme and also other musical instruments and activities.
