Music Collaboration Festival in Bandung

Ministry of Tourism would held Bambu Nusantara The Fifth “World Music Festival:BNWMF” in Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga) in Bandung, on 1-2 October 2011.

The music concert with bamboo theme would present hundred of domestic and foreign artists and musicians

“For this year we add more 70 percent artists and musicians than the previous,” said Director of the Program from Republic Entertainment, Iman Noer Adi, when held pers confrence in Gedung Indonesia Menggugat, Bandung on Monday.

BNWMF is bamboo theme festival performing artists and musicians from Indonesia and abroad.

This festival is for promoting richness of Indonesian culture to international communities.

Like the previous, this festival is performing bamboo as main musical instrument and other contemporer musical instrument as support.

“Several contemporer musical instrument would be combinated by bamboo in addition to newest bamboo modificated musical instrumen, but the main instrument still bamboo,” he said.

For two days, BNWMF would perform artists and musician like Dwiki Dharmawan, Rafli Wa Saja from Aceh, Sruti Respati from Solo, Ozenk Percussion, Sisca & Friends, and Jendela Ide.

In this festival, there is some musicians doing collaboration like Bambu Wukir with Matthew Arrington, Jatiwangi Art Factory with Ary Juliant, and Sarasvati that would be accompanied by angklung rhythm from Pasundan 2 Senior High School, Bandung.

Iman added that Balawan would collaborate also with Gamelan Maestro Project. “We perform deliberately collaboration between musicians with contemporer and traditional musical instruments to produce harmony collaboration.,” Iman explained.

BNWMF would be supported also by performance of musicians from several provinces in Indonesia like Mid Java, Jambi, Central Borneo, East Java, and Banten.

Iman said that BNWMF this year would be more special because it would be dominated by young generation that would participate in a series of activities.

“We would cooperate with Senior High School, university students and several communities promotors. This would be good moment for regeneration,” he said.

Performance of youth musicians is related with visitors segment. This would be place for youth to develop their creativities.

One of participation form of youth is exhibition of creative product from Faculty of Fine Arts of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Bengkel Kostum (Fashion Designer) from Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia (Indonesian Arts School) Bandung.

“We also invite students from several yunior and senior high school in Bandung to make show in this program, like angklung SMAN 2, SMAN 8, SMPN 2, and SMAN 44 Bandung,” he continued.

In addition to performance of musical show, visitors could also follow seminar and workshop. “There would be also culinary festival with spice like rebung (bamboo sprout), lemang, satay, moci, and many more,” he said.

Iman explained that there would be three indoor stages in Sabuga, in left and right wing, and main stage located in main auditorium of Sabuga.

“For entering main stage, visitor would be charged and another two stages are free,” he explained.

Ticket for one day is 50,000 IDR, while for the next two days is 75,000 IDR. In the next two days, program would be opened from 10am till 12pm WIT.
